South Ayrshire Access Panel

Integration not isolation
South Ayrshire Access Panel is comprised of people willing to give up their own time to campaign for improved access to buildings, transport, leisure facilities, parking and obstacle-free pavements for the disabled in South Ayrshire.
Since the 1995 Disability Discrimination Act, Society has been expected to change to meet the needs of the disabled person rather than the disabled person having to adapt to the inadequacies of Society.
A useful link to the local authority is maintained by George Brown, who is a Disablement Liaison Officer for South Ayrshire Council Building Standards Department.
Under the umbrella of our parent body Scottish Disability Equality Forum, we at South Ayrshire Access Panel seek to create a barrier-free environment for disabled people in South Ayrshire; thereby increasing mobility and improving quality of life. Details of our campaigning can be found on the About us page.
The purpose of this site is as a resource to anyone who is concerned with the safety and access of the South Ayrshire area for disabled people. It contains news and information on relevant issues and on how to join the Access Panel or give feedback/comments which we would welcome
We meet on the last Thursday of every month in:
